Cancellation Policy
If existing members do not wish to continue, notice should be given as soon as possible, at the latest by the end of the current term when renewal notices are sent out. Failure to notify Momentum Swimming of cancellation, may result in swimmers being liable for a term's fees.
If a swimming teacher is absent for any reason Momentum Swimming will do it's best to find a replacement, but there will be times where unavoidable circumstances occur at late notice. If a suitable replacement teacher is not found, Momentum Swimming reserves the right make a poolside judgement to ensure all swimmers are catered for to the best of our ability. Momentum Swimming will always put the health and safety of all our swimmers first when making any such judgement.
Momentum Swimming hires various facilities, therefore we are not responsible for the cleaning, maintenance or general condition of the facilities. If any of the facilities are deemed to be in an unsafe or potentially harmful condition, Momentum Swimming will consider the health and safety of our participants first and may have to cancel a session. Equally if a technical or administrative problem occurs at the facility, the session may be cancelled at short notice. In either case, members will be notified as soon as possible by email, text and or phone call to advise them of the cancellation and the date(s) of any replacement session(s) that will be provided.
Class Progression
Momentum Swimming follows Swim England’s Learn to Swim Programme and Framework from the Foundation Stage (Pre-school) to Stage 10 (Competitive Swimming).
Each stage throughout the programme has different skills criteria that the swimmer has to accomplish three times in comfort before proceeding to the next stage. The lessons allow for continuous progression once a swimmer has passed each skill at their respective swimming stage. The teaching staff will recommend which stage a swimmer should join for the following term or during the term. However, places in other swimming stages at a similar time slot or location cannot be guaranteed and are also subject to availability.
Class Structure
Momentum Swimming promotes small class sizes and in doing so creates the best learning environment. Coach to Swimmer ratios may vary with age and ability. Momentum Swimming will provide most swimming equipment but adults and those in the training groups will be asked to provide their own training fins, and any other specialist equipment required.
Teaching Team
All teachers and coaches for all activities are DBS (Disclosure Barring Scheme) checked and have nationally recognised teaching, coaching, lifesaving and first aid qualifications as appropriate to the activity. Our Child Safeguarding Policies are in line with Swim England recommendations as set out in Wavepower 2016/19.
All teachers and coaches are encouraged to participate in continuous professional development (CPD). This ensures that all our programmes are delivered to the highest standard.
Kit Requirements
All swimmers should wear a swimming hat, goggles and close fitting trunks or costumes. A
kit list for specific activities may be provided. The wearing of baggy shorts in the water is not advised as they cause excessive resistance and prevent the optimum acquisition of skill.
Momentum Swimming will provide pull buoys, kick boards, noodles as appropriate, however,
if swimmers may use their own if they wish.
All adult swimmers and swimmers in Training sessions 1 - 4 should bring their own training fins and will be advised by the coach if any other equipment is required.
All swimmers are encouraged to bring a drink of water onto the poolside, please avoid sports/fizzy drinks. NO glass bottles or cans will be permitted. Drinks are highly recommended for swimming classes of more than 30 minutes.
Parental Responsibility
Parents and carers are responsible for the health, safety and well-being of their children under the age of 16 before and after the time of the child's activity. Parents of any children under 8 years of age are requested to remain available for the duration of the lesson and will be required to care for their child's needs if they have to return to the changing rooms for any reason. Once a child is over 8, the coach will assume they are able to go to the changing rooms, toilets unaccompanied. If this is not the case, parents/carers must remain
available.
Parents and carers should ensure that children are taken to poolside or the agreed activity start point, in good time for the start of their lesson and be ready to collect them at the end of the session. Momentum Swimming will not be responsible for any children in the changing areas.
Parents and carers are entirely responsible for any siblings or other children who are around the activities. Please ensure they are well away from the pool and are not distracting to the lessons / activities taking place. No-one should distract or interrupt the teacher during a swimming lesson for health and safety reasons. Momentum Swimming will always put the health, safety and well being of our swimmers first.
Please do not leave personal belongings in the changing cubicles where possible. Use lockers where available. This enables others to use the cubicles in the following lessons. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing areas, participants can put them on poolside. Momentum Swimming is not responsible for the loss or theft of any personal items left in the swimming pool facility or any other facility in use.
Medical Conditions
All existing medical conditions must be included on the registration form. In addition, Momentum Swimming must be notified of any new or changes to any existing condition as soon as possible if this occurs once a swimmer is registered. Swimmers requiring medication before, during or after any swim session must notify the coach and have the appropriate medication on poolside if required.
Feedback
Please direct any requests for feedback to the Poolside Manager on duty. All coaches and teachers will provide as much feedback as they are able, via the Poolside Manager, without impacting on the ongoing classes. Parents and Carers should not interrupt any class to give or request feedback. This is a health and safety issue as it may distract the coach from the swimmers and put them at risk. If you would like to give or receive any feedback, please speak to the Poolside Manager in the first instance or drop an email to the Team, momentumswimming@gmail.com.
Spectators
Parents, carers, siblings and others are allowed to watch as appropriate to the venue and activity taking place.
